亞洲最大的城市廣場位於大連南部海濱風景區的星海廣場，星海灣改造工程啟幕於1993年7月16日，市政府利用建築垃圾填海造地114公頃，開發土地62公頃，形成瞭總占地面積176萬平方米的亞洲最大城市公用廣場，工程竣工於1997年6月30日。
