The traditional fastival in my hometown
The past centuries have witnessed Chinese histories, with traditional culture across the country. "Swine butchering" ,the western equivalent of
"Thanks giving", is one of those that prevail in Jamusi, the first city to greet the Sun, in northern China.
In ancient times, our ancestors lead their lives in poverty. It is not likely to have pork in each meal, though every family has a few pigs. Basicly, they would keep the pig and collect their dung to fertilize the barren soil. And kill them to make a fancy feast at the end of the year, as treat for the effort they've made in the whole year. This traditional custom can be traced back to 2 or 3 thousand years ago, form Heilongjiang River Basin & Songhuajiang River Basin. Instead of the meaningless ritual, people prefer to perceive this activity as a ceremony and even a chance for the reunion of family. On the 26th of the 12th Chinese lunar month, people will get up early in the morning. The men will be dominant in this activity. They are responsible for the butchering that is carried out their own yards. Usually the women will help to boil water and make a
